Water & Sewer
Water and Sewer services are available in the village of Warren and Water service is available in the village of Markstay only.
The current year water rates are established through the Water and Sewer By-Law on a yearly basis for both villages.
Similarly, the sewer rates are established by the Water and Sewer By-Law on a yearly basis.

Late Payments
A late payment charge of 1.25% per month shall apply to all bills not paid on or before the established due date and shall be added on the first of the month thereafter until all arrears are paid.
Any balance remaining unpaid shall be transferred to the tax roll for that property and shall be collected in the same manner as municipal taxes.
Water system Drinking Water Quality Management System (DWQMS)
The Municipality of Markstay-Warren is the owner of the Markstay Distribution Sytsem and Warren Drinking Water Systems, with the City of Greater Sudbury serving as the Operating Authority.
The Markstay Distribution System receives treated drinking water from the City of Greater Sudbury’s Wanapitei Water Treatment Plant. The Warren Drinking Water System is supplied solely by two groundwater wells that serve as its source of potable water.
Both systems are operated and maintained in accordance with Ontario’s Drinking Water Quality Management Standard (DWQMS) and applicable legislative requirements. The DWQMS provides a comprehensive quality management framework designed to ensure the consistent delivery of safe, reliable drinking water to consumers.
The City of Greater Sudbury and The Municipality of Markstay-Warren are jointly committed to providing safe drinking water to the consumers that complies with all applicable legislation and regulations, while continuing to improve and maintain the Quality Management System.
This commitment is fulfilled through the implementation and continual improvement of a Drinking Water Quality Management System (DWQMS) that meets the requirements of the Ontario Drinking Water Quality Management Standard.
Together, we are committed to:
- Protecting public health by ensuring the consistent supply of safe drinking water.
- Complying with all applicable legislation and regulations governing drinking water systems in Ontario.
- Maintaining and continually improving the DWQMS through regular review, audits, and updates.
- Communicating effectively with stakeholders, including regulators, customers, and municipal officials.
- Documenting procedures to ensure transparency, accountability, and traceability in all aspects of water system management.

- à communiquer efficacement avec les parties prenantes, y compris les organes de réglementation, les clients et les responsables municipaux;
- à documenter les procédures afin d’assurer la transparence, la responsabilité et la traçabilité de tous les aspects de la gestion du système d’alimentation en eau.
