By-Law Enforcement & Animal Control

Sudbury East Building and By-law Services (SEBBS) is responsible for enforcing municipal by-laws within the Municipality of Markstay-Warren. By-laws help protect the environment, ensure public health and safety, and maintain an orderly community.

Common By-Law infractions include:

Emergencies & Non-Municipal Issues

For non-emergency matters such as public nuisance, property damage, vandalism, public alcohol consumption, traffic, or criminal activity, call the Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) Non-Emergency Line: 1-888-310-1122.

For emergencies, call 9-1-1.


Animal Control & Licensing

Sudbury East Building and By-Law Services is responsible for enforcement of the Animal Control By-Law and stray or nuisance dogs (and their owners).

Please contact the municipal office to submit a complaint to report roaming dogs, if you have found a dog, or to report anyone who is allowing their dog to be a nuisance to others.

Animal Licensing

Dog Tags

The annual dog tags (license) are available at the municipal office during regular business hours.  The annual fee for dog tags is defined in our By-Law 2020-06

– Service Charges and Fees – Schedule “E”. Seniors discount is available. Licenses must be renewed every calendar year.

Kennel Licences are also available for a fee subject to zoning approval.
