NOTICE – SIGNIFICANT WEATHER EVENT DECLARED

The Municipality of Markstay–Warren has declared a Significant Weather Event in accordance with Ontario Regulation 239/02 (Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways).

A significant weather event may be declared when a weather hazard, either forecasted or occurring, has the potential to pose a significant danger to users of municipal roadways.

This declaration notifies the public that due to the current weather conditions, there may be significant hazards for those travelling on municipal roads and sidewalks. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to use caution while travelling within the Municipality.

During a declared Significant Weather Event, municipal road crews will continue to work to restore roadways and sidewalks to a safe condition; however, it may take longer than usual to meet the maintenance standards.

For Markstay–Warren, municipal crews have up to 48 hours after the end of the weather event to restore roads and sidewalks to the required maintenance standards.

This Significant Weather Event will remain in effect until further notice.
