Effective immediately, a complete fire ban is now in effect throughout the Municipality due to extreme fire conditions.
The Fire Chief has implemented this ban in response to the ongoing elevated fire risk across our area. Under the Municipality’s Open-Air Burning By-law 2016-36, no open-air burning is permitted while a fire ban is in effect.
What This Means
- All open-air burning is prohibited.
- No new fire permits will be issued or sold during the fire ban.
- All existing fire permits are hereby suspended and considered null and void for the duration of the ban.
- Residents must immediately extinguish any open-air fires and refrain from starting new ones.
The fire ban has been implemented to reduce the risk of wildfire and protect residents, property, and municipal resources during these extreme conditions.
Enforcement
This fire ban is being issued in accordance with:
- Municipal Open-Air Burning By-law 2016-36
- Ontario Fire Code, Section 2.4.4.4
The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) and the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) are being notified of the fire ban.
Please Do Your Part
Residents are asked to exercise caution and avoid any activity that could ignite a fire. Dry conditions can cause fires to spread rapidly and create dangerous situations for firefighters and the community.
We appreciate everyone’s cooperation as we work together to keep our community safe.
This fire ban remains in effect until further notice.
For updates, please continue to monitor the municipal website and official social media channels.
