Seniors Active Living Centre

SALC stands for Seniors Active Living Centres, a program funded by the Government of Ontario. These centres serve as community hubs, operated by municipalities, Legions, and other non-profit organizations, offering social, cultural, recreational, and educational programs that help older adults stay active, healthy, and connected.

The Municipality of Markstay-Warren has been receiving SALC funding since 2024 and is proud to provide a variety of activities and opportunities for seniors in our community. Be sure to check our Community Events Calendar for upcoming programs and events, or follow the Markstay-Warren SALC Facebook page for the latest updates.

Common activities include:

  • Fitness classes, weight rooms, and walking groups.
  • Lifelong learning classes and book clubs.
  • Arts, crafts, and cultural events (e.g., multicultural social groups, indigenous beading).
  • Health, wellness, and primary healthcare information clinics.
