and&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>either a resident of the municipality or a property owner or tenant or the spouse or same sex partner of an owner or tenant in the municipality during a specified time just before the election. &nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Your name must be on the voters\u2019 list in order for you to cast a ballot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The voters\u2019 list is prepared in several steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A preliminary list is created by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) based on data it keeps on homeownership and tenancy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The preliminary list is sent to the municipal clerk after a by-election has been called or in advance of a regular election which occurs every 4 years. The clerk can correct any errors on the list, and the corrected list then becomes the voters\u2019 list.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are not on the voters\u2019 list, or if your information is incorrect (for example, you have moved and may be listed at a former address), you may apply to have your name added or your information corrected. This may be done until the close of voting on voting day in a regular election or by-election. You may have your name added to the voters\u2019 list at the voting place. You may be asked to show identification to establish that you are eligible to vote. For more information about getting on the voters\u2019 list, you should contact your municipal clerk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note: &nbsp;To ensure you are on the voters\u2019 list for municipal and school board elections, you may visit&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/voterlookup.ca\/home.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">voterlookup.ca.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Who can be a candidate<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A candidate must be a resident of the municipality or a non-resident owner or tenant of land in the municipality or the spouse of such non-resident owner or tenant;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a Canadian citizen and at least 18 years old;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>not legally prohibited from voting; &nbsp;and&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>not disqualified by any legislation from holding municipal office.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You will need to submit your nomination form and must pay a fee of $100 ($200 for Mayor) to the Municipal Clerk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For detailed information, refer to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/document\/2022-candidates-guide-ontario-municipal-council-and-school-board-elections\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2022 Candidates Guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are interested in becoming a candidate, you must complete the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forms.ssb.gov.on.ca\/mbs\/ssb\/forms\/ssbforms.nsf\/MinistryDetail?OpenForm&amp;ACT=RDR&amp;TAB=PROFILE&amp;ENV=WWE&amp;NO=017-9499P\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nomination Form<\/a>&nbsp;and drop it off signed at the municipal office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are other forms to complete once the nomination form is completed and payment must be made at the municipal office.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contact the municipal office if you have additional questions or to complete the sign-up process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Am I on the Voters List<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To ensure you are on the voters\u2019 list for municipal and school board elections, you may visit&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/voterlookup.ca\/home.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">voterlookup.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This site lets you confirm, update and add your name to the voters&#8217; list for municipal elections.
