{"id":133,"date":"2025-12-05T03:56:26","date_gmt":"2025-12-05T03:56:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/markstay-warren.ca\/?page_id=133"},"modified":"2026-05-21T16:46:30","modified_gmt":"2026-05-21T16:46:30","slug":"municipal-elections","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/markstay-warren.ca\/fr\/governance\/municipal-elections\/","title":{"rendered":"Municipal Elections"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The next Municipal and School Board Election will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong>2026 Unofficial List of Candidates<\/strong><\/summary>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>Name of Unofficial Candidate<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Office<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Dave Boland<\/td><td>Mayor<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Ross Evans<\/td><td>Councillor<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Pierre Frappier<\/td><td>Councillor<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><\/td><td><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><\/td><td><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><\/td><td><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><\/td><td><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong>Who Can Be a Candidate<\/strong><\/summary>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A candidate must be a resident of the municipality or a non-resident owner or tenant of land in the municipality or the spouse of such non-resident owner or tenant;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a Canadian citizen and at least 18 years old;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>not legaly prohibited from voting; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>not disqualified by any legislation from holding municipal office.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You will need to submit your nomination form and must pay a fee of $100 ($200 for Mayor) to the Municipal Clerk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For detailed information, refer to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/document\/2026-candidates-guide-ontario-municipal-council-and-school-board-elections\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2026 Candidates Guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are interested in becoming a candidate, you must complete the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/forms.mgcs.gov.on.ca\/dataset\/3c131073-b018-42ab-b217-c4d73afaf429\/resource\/36de6282-5fc0-4601-af85-f3b8859166ba\/download\/9499p_e.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nomination Form<\/a>&nbsp;and drop it off signed at the municipal office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are other forms to complete once the nomination form is completed and payment must be made at the municipal office.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Contact the municipal office if you have additional questions or to complete the sign-up process.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong>Who Can Vote in a Municipal Election<\/strong><\/summary>\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anyone can vote in a municipal election who, on the day of the election, is:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>18 years of age or older&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a Canadian citizen; and&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>either a resident of the municipality or a property owner or tenant or the spouse or same sex partner of an owner or tenant in the municipality during a specified time just before the election. &nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your name must be on the voters\u2019 list in order for you to cast a ballot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are not on the voters\u2019 list, or if your information is incorrect (for example, you have moved and may be listed at a former address), you may apply to have your name added or your information corrected. This may be done until the close of voting on voting day in a regular election or by-election. You may have your name added to the voters\u2019 list at the voting place. You may be asked to show identification to establish that you are eligible to vote. For more information about getting on the voters\u2019 list, you should contact your municipal clerk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong>Am I on the Voter&#8217;s List<\/strong><\/summary>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Residents are encouraged to confirm that they are registered to vote for the upcoming municipal election. Keeping your voter information up to date helps ensure you receive the correct voting information and can vote quickly and easily on election day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can
